Our goal is to build and foster a community identity to encourage interaction among neighbors that inspires residents into action on activities that make SouthTown a safe and healthy place to live, work, and play together.
Meet the author! Meet your neighbors!
On September 21, 2024, the SouthTown Collaborative hosted an event highlighting local author, Alice Fried. Alice wrote the book SouthTown Dogs to the Rescue! about her experiences getting acquainted with neighbors around Magnolia Park. Alice and her dog Charity took daily walks in the park. It was natural to greet people and their furry companions. Soon names were shared (dogs first, of course) and friendships developed as all continued to meet in Magnolia Park. This neighborliness inspired Alice to write a book for children (also enjoyed by adults).
The event included representatives from the Solano County SPCA, the Solano County Library and Pets Supplies Plus Pet Store. Copies of the book were also available for sale with two readings of the book during the morning. Additionally, we sponsored an Adopt-a-Stuffed Animal fundraiser for the SPCA.
Thanks to all who attended!
